My fascination with creativity began in kindergarten with finger paints, smearing bold, beautiful colors on a large piece of paper. I loved doing craft projects and playing dress up. A brand new box of crayons, with its perfect points, the waxy smell, and those rich colors was just the best fun.
As an adult, I tried ceramics, drawing, painting, acting, sewing, needlepoint, embroidery, collage, making holiday ornaments, cooking, and decorating. Even my professional life was a creative outlet focused on writing and producing video programs and feature stories. After that, I used my creativity to start my own business designing and delivering workshops on how to prepare and deliver effective business presentations.
A few years ago, I started studying this mysterious thing called creativity and became a Certified Creativity Coach. Now I provide individual coaching and conduct fun retreat-type workshops to help others explore their creativity.
I’ve come full circle on using my creativity. I’ve gone back to painting – now they are abstracts with bold, beautiful colors, although I use mostly brushes, but occasionally my fingers. And I write – just for the fun of it – mostly short stories and now this blog to share some thoughts about living creatively.
