Hawk’s Eyes

Oh, to be like the hawk with mighty eyes
Seeing great distances,
Yet able to detect the tiniest detail –
A flicker, wiggle, dart or dash in the grass.
Instead
Here I am,
Surrounded by dense fog on a dark night.
Just a few feet of pavement is all I see.
Brush aside the heavy gray curtain’s hem,
A bit more of the road revealed,
A way through the mist.
