Do You Hear What I Hear?

A huge Christmas tree with hundreds of lights shining against a night sky is irresistible to me.  I found a particularly beautiful tree the other night, so I grabbed my camera and headed out to take pictures.

I’ve always been fascinated by night photography, but knew nothing about how to take pictures in the dark, so I consulted the camera manual.  My camera has two night settings, and I thought okay, just use one of those and that will take care of everything.  I shot a lot of pictures and checked them; they looked pretty good on the camera’s 1×1 screen. The more experienced among you are probably shaking your heads and/or laughing right about now.

When I got home and brought the images up on the big desktop monitor, the pictures weren’t what I had in mind.   But …. I did achieve some very cool effects.

My favorite is this one with the lights on the tree resembling hundreds of musical notes – a huge evergreen singing Silent Night, O Holy Night, songs of love, hope and peace.

      Hi Tracy,

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, too. I had to look at the photo several times to convince myself that they actually looked like notes. Thanks for coming by and yes, we’ll see each other soon.
