Four Steps to Creativity

Would you like to discover the creativity that is buried within?  It’s in all us, but we don’t tap into it because we don’t know how.  Here are four steps to being a more creative person.  Anyone can use them anywhere, anytime.

Step 1 – Be observant of the world around you.  Don’t just look, but see everything around you.  Notice the details.  This is your source for lots of ideas and inspiration.

Step 2 – Define yourself as a creative person.  You do not have to draw, paint, or write.  Those are only three ways to use your creativity.

Step 3 – Look for creative possibilities in everything you do.  Here are some things to get you started – try a new recipe, arrange a vase of flowers, think how you can make a boring business topic interesting in a speech, come up with new ways to engage your employees so they are excited about their work, go someplace you haven’t been before, think of a gift for someone that isn’t purchased from a store.

Step 4 – Exercise your creativity everyday – Even if it’s only five minutes, do something.  See Step 3 for a few ideas.

Give it a try for a week and see what happens.  You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
